CAMH Video Jam
Co-presented with CAMH
Thursday, July 12, 6:30PM
Location: Contemporary Arts Museum Houston,
5216 Montrose Blvd
Free Admission

An extension of CAMH’s long-running Slide Jam series, Video Jams explore the ideas and inspirations of a range of film/video artists in Houston’s diverse and ever-changing arts community. This summer, CAMH and the Aurora Picture Show co-present monthly gatherings, in which featured local artists will show and discuss recent film/video work, talk about their creative practices, and field questions from the audience. This event’s featured artists Nick Bontrager and Stephanie Saint Sanchez will show and discuss recent film/video work, talk about their creative practices, and answer questions from the audience.

Nick Bontrager is an artist whose work explores the physical and conceptual nature of the moving image, game-based interactions and exchanges, and mankind's struggle to learn more about the vast unknown. He will soon be joining the TCU School of Art as an Assistant Professor of New Media in Fort Worth, Texas.

Raised in Beaumont, corrupted in Houston, Stephanie Saint Sanchez is a by-any-means-necessary media artist, moviemaker, and instigator. As founder of La Chicana Laundry Pictures, she has made over 25 award-winning, genre-bending shorts. She also started the Senorita Cinema film festival, the only all Latina Film Festival in Texas. She is a recipient of a S.W.A.M.P. Emerging Filmmakers Fellowship and Lawndale Artist Studio Program. This year she takes the helm of her first feature: a 3-D musical about the life and times of tragic Texas rose Anna Nicole Smith.

Held in the Cullen Education Resource Room, lower level of the Museum. Artists Reception at 6:30PM; presentations begin at 7PM. Seating is limited.
