NIGHT LIGHT
Co-presented by Aurora Picture Show and Buffalo Bayou Partnership with the support of the East End Cultural District, NIGHT LIGHT is an annual spring event featuring newly commissioned, large-scale video art installations illuminating various sites and structures along Buffalo Bayou’s waterfront in the East End. Beginning at sunset, each of these transformational audiovisual works are connected by trails, with a lively market featuring food, drink, local goods, and music anchoring the one-night festival.
By annually commissioning large-scale, site-specific installations, Aurora aims to expand creative possibilities and audience engagement for a diversity of Houston-based artists, as well as enhancing public engagement in contemporary art through truly unique experiences. NIGHT LIGHT has attracted thousands of attendees each year since 2022. There is perhaps no location that better reflects Houston than Buffalo Bayou East, with its unique confluence of natural, industrial, and urban elements, its downtown views, and the bayou’s historic importance in the formation of the city. And there is no better activation of the currents of the region’s contemporary art and culture than this free, outdoor event.
