For over 15 years, Aurora has presented kids with the opportunity to see, learn about, and make movies. Aurora’s ever-popular summer filmmaking camps, to be held at our new location in the East End at 201 Roberts St. Houston, TX 77003.
During Aurora’s week-long, hands-on camps, our teaching artists will show a variety of films from our media library, teach the basics of both traditional and experimental moviemaking, encourage creative thinking, and facilitate collaboration. Participants, ages 7-11 and 12-15, will be guided through developing, shooting, and editing digital short films. One Advanced Camp (Camp 6) has been designed for kids 12-15 who have previously attended at least one Aurora camp and are especially motivated to learn more about video editing and visual effects. The final premiere of the all camp films will take place in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston on August 17, 2024.
Each camp is one week, Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm, at Aurora Picture Show (201 Roberts St.) This year all sessions will take place on the 3rd floor. Please note that there is no elevator in this historic building. Register for camps in the links below. This page also has information about applying for need-based scholarships.
