Mess with Texas

  • Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston 5216 Montrose Boulevard Houston, TX, 77006 United States (map)

In the spirit of cinematic intervention, Aurora Picture Show partners with the CAMH and the Texas Archive of Moving Image (TAMI), to commission Texas artists to delve into TAMI’s vast collection of Texas-related movies, newsreels and homemade films and create entirely new works from the footage. These new re-workings are creative intersections of past and present, exploring varying senses of place and home and bringing new life to cinematic memories. Join us for the world premiere of these new works created in conjunction with Perspectives 178: CINEPLEX. Artists include: Alec Jhangiani (with Producer James Johnston), Alex Luster, Kelly Sears, Scott Stark and Mark and Angela Walley.

The films will also be on view in the gallery July 6–8, museum hours. Please note that seating is limited so early arrival is recommended (no late seating). Refreshments will be available inside the gallery.
