Aurora and BlackStar Film Festival co-present a screening of experimental short films from the US, UK, Senegal, and India that center history, movement, and place. Based in Philadelphia, BlackStar has long been dedicated to amplifying the work of Black, Brown and Indigenous artists from around the world who are working outside of the confines of genre. Beyond its annual film festival, BlackStar also produces year-round film screenings, exhibitions, filmmaker seminars, film production labs, and a published journal. Special guest Dessane Lopez Cassell, Editor-in-Chief of BlackStar’s biannual journal of film and visual culture Seen, will be here to introduce this curated program of new short films that were featured in the 2022 BlackStar Film Festival. The latest edition of Seen will also be available for purchase at the screening.
