Nina Berman is a documentary photographer with a primary interest in the American political and social landscape. She is recognized for her work with wounded veterans, and her 2006 Marine Wedding portrait, which shows a disfigured marine with his young bride on their wedding day, is considered to be an iconic image of life during wartime. She has been the subject of solo and group exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Europe. She is on the faculty of the International Center of Photography in her hometown of New York City.

Berman’s work will be in the
Unite and Untie exhibition at Houston Center for Photography February 27-March 29, 2009. A salon discussion with Berman will take place at the Aurora Video Library on Sunday, March 15, 1pm.
