DiverseWorks and Aurora Picture Show are pleased to partner on Flickerlounge, a season-long cinematic experience in the newly refurbished Project Gallery at Diverseworks. In coordination with the visual arts exhibitions, Aurora will present an eclectic lineup of rotating full-length films, shorts and video presentations to accompany the Main Gallery.
In conjunction with Allison Hunter's Zoosphere, an installation investigating humankind's relationship to the natural world, Aurora presents another photographic-based artist, Kelly Richardson, who also throws an experimental lens over the natural world. Twilight Avenger by Kelly Richardson is equal parts sci-fi myth and forest fable.
Twilight Avenger begins with a fairytale-worthy image of a misty, moonlit forest clearing, inhabited by a majestic stag who emanates a luminous green vapor. Quietly grazing amidst the ambient chatter of other forest dwellers, our protagonist occasionally rears his head, shifting his gaze towards us.
Kelly Richardson's works have been presented internationally at various venues including the Beijing 798 Biennale, Sundance Film Festival, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Gwangju Biennale, Art Gallery of Ontario and Centre Georges Pompidou.
