Curators and producers Mike Plante of Cinemad and Mark Elijah Rosenberg of Rooftop Films have programmed a selection of short films by artists from the Orbit (Film) omnibus. This diverse and talented collection of filmmakers have produced an impressive array of documentaries, fiction, animation, experimental films. This show will highlight some of their brilliant and other-worldly work.

Bring your chairs and blankets to sit outside under the stars on the rooftop of Khon's.  You are welcome to bring in outside food, but no outside drinks are allowed.  Drinks will be for sale inside Khon's.

This screening is the second in the Orbit Film series.  The first screening of Orbit Films will take place at Mandell Park on Friday, March 18th for FREE.  Then on Sunday, Plante and Rosenberg will host a free video salon at the Aurora Video Library called Intersections Between Science, Art and Film.

Mike Plante created the series in a similar fashion as his Lunchfilm project, where he bought a filmmaker lunch and they would make a short film in trade, with the cost of the lunch as the budget and a napkin contract. Plante was the Director of Programming for the CineVegas film festival and has worked at Sundance since 2001, including four festivals as a Short Film Programmer and two fests as a consultant for their New Frontier section. He also writes the film blog Cinemad (iblamesociety.com).

Mark Elijah Rosenberg is the Founder and Artistic Director of Rooftop Films, a non-profit organization whose mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showing movies in outdoor locations, producing new films, teaching filmmaking to young people, and renting low-cost equipment to artists and non-profits. As a curator and filmmaker, Mark's taste and work favor low-budget, personal cinema.

Special thanks to Green Bank for their presenting sponsorship of this program and to KHON'S for hosting this event.  KHON'S will have wine, beer, coffee and much more.
