It’s time for Member Moviola, Aurora’s quarterly member gathering and mini-screening. There will be beverages and bites, and we’ll be viewing selections from our archive of videos by media artist Andy Mann. Mann began his career in the late-1960s in New York, was a member of Videofreex and other historic video collectives, his “street tapes” were exhibited internationally, and he lived and worked in Houston between 1980 and his death in 2001. This little peak into the archives will include some early, “street tapes” footage from the 70s, later video-processsed abstractions, and excerpts of rarely-seen documents made in the 1980s and 90s with Houston artists including James Bettison, Jesse Lott, and others. Guest Jesse Lott will be in attendance and to say a few words about his friend, Andy Mann. As always, Member Moviola is free but for current Aurora members only. (Not a member?
