Aurora del Video Argentino

(Latin American Films Quarterly Screening)

Curated by Graciela Taquini

Co-presented with Pan American Cultural Exchange

This program launches a collaborative effort between Aurora Picture Show and Pan American Cultural Exchange to bring Latin American film art to Texas.

Graciela Taquini

Argentine video today is strongly marked by a testimonial tendency that encompasses a politically correct perspective as well as an ironic and displeased one. These works refer to Argentina's recent history and are presented in a metaphoric manner without being obvious. The spectrum presents a strong experimentational charge, where fiction and documentary mix, disguised with an outstanding human presence, as in performance over plain window dressing. Even the animations reveal much more than simple design. There is an understanding of the medium that is always questioned from within, in function of concept.--Lic. Graciela Taquini
