Aurora Picture Show and Wesley Community Center come together for a special, free-admission neighborhood celebration. The event begins at 6pm with music provided by “The Awesome DJ” Bobby Balderas, performance by youth from Ballet Folkloriko Azteca de Houston, a raffle with prizes provided by AvenueCDC, a fire truck from Startion #9 for the kids to explore, and other food and activities. At 8pm in Wesley's gymnasium, Aurora will screen a curated program of short films about home, memory, and community–including work by artists Cauleen Smith, Lisa E. Harris, and others. This film program will begin with work made in Aurora's creative workshops with children and seniors at Wesley exploring personal histories in the Near Northside neighborhood.
