Green Screen for Halloween
Saturday, October 13 from 12-3PM
Location: IKEA Houston, 7810 Katy Freeway
Bring your Halloween costume to life with Aurora Picture Show! In honor of trick-or-treat season, Aurora Picture Show hosts a green screen workshop where youth are invited to wear their costumes early and create a short film about their character. Using green screen techniques, Aurora will place youth in the background of their choice bringing their spooky monster, strong superhero or pink princess to life on screen. IKEA furniture and toys will be available to use as props for the short films.
Aurora’s green screen workshop teaches children a form of filmmaking in which small staged sets and objects are filmed and manipulated in front of a green screen that can make them appear in any imaginable background. Youth will use IKEA toys and treats to create short films that will help them understand the structure of staging in filmmaking. Aurora Picture Show volunteers will help participants create their story and local filmmakers will help bring them to life.
Commonly used in weather forecast broadcasts, chroma key compositing (or chroma keying) is a technique for compositing (layering) two images together. A color range in the top layer is made transparent, revealing another image behind.
