Free admission

Bring your blankets for a film in the park! In association with Klee and America, the Menil Collection's exhibit of works by Swiss born German artist Paul Klee (1879-1940), the Aurora presents an outdoor screening of films about or inspired by the artist in the Menil Park.

The free screening will consist of two films. The first film is a 1956 short film by the Academy Award-winning animators John and Faith Hubley entitled, The Adventures of an * (sic), (10 minutes). The short film is an example of the early American animation that was influenced by Klee and other artists of the Bauhaus movement and depicts the story of a baby represented by the “ * “ symbol as it grows to maturity. A feature documentary, Bauhaus: The Face of the Twentieth Century (50 minutes), will follow. The documentary covers the development of the Bauhaus movement and the key figures involved in it—including, in addition to Klee, the founder Walter Gropius, his successor Mies van der Rohe, László Moholy-Nagy, and Josef Albers.

Klee and America runs at the Menil Collection from October 6, 2006 to January 28, 2007.

NOTE: Rain location will be Richmond Hall, on Menil Campus.
