Once a year, Austin Film Society awards grants to emerging film and video artists in the state of Texas. Since 1996, AFS has awarded 486 grants, totaling over $1.34 million in cash and over $100 K in goods and services to 370 projects. Awards are provided to artists whose work shows promise, skill, and creativity. The Austin Film Society's Iliana Sosa will be here to review the application guidelines and procedures, and to answer questions.
The AFS information session will be followed by a screening of locally made short films presented by the Houston Film Commission as part of their “First Thursday” screening and network events. The screening will include work by two previous AFS Grant recipients Daniel Levin (in attendance) and Miguel Alvarez.
