Since 1998, Aurora has championed independent, non-traditional media art through countless special screenings, film festivals, live cinema performances, guest artist talks, workshops, youth programs, and community collaborations. An experimental spirit and adaptive nature has carried this people-powered organization through two decades of technological and cultural shifts. We’re proud of Aurora’s ever-evolving series of unique media art experiences reaching spaces throughout Houston and artists throughout the world. And we’re happy that you’re part of it all!
Aurora encourages you to share memories of your favorite Aurora experiences (#aurora20) and contribute to support its ongoing legacy of media art experimentation and community engagement. An Aurora20 celebration will be held on June 7, and will feature cocktails, djs, film and video projections, and many of the stars who’ve contributed to this creative constellation.
Toast the past, present, and future of Aurora Picture Show at our big 20th anniversary party! This special indoor/outdoor event will feature projections from Aurora’s video archives, 16mm films in the courtyard presented by Cinema Bomar, and music provided by DJs Flash Gordon Parks and Peter Lucas. Founder Andrea Grover will be among the past and present Aurora champs in attendance. In addition to greatly supporting Aurora’s continuing legacy, your contribution to our Aurora20 campaign includes admission to this fantastic event! Higher-level contributions include invitations to the VIP cocktail hour, immediately preceding the party.
Contribution Levels
Contributions at any of the following levels includes entrance to the Aurora20 party.
$50 - Includes admission for one to the Aurora20 celebration, plus an Aurora beverage coozie.
$100 - Includes admission for two to the Aurora20 celebration, plus an Aurora tote bag and beverage coozie.
$500 - Includes admission for two to both the Aurora20 celebration and the preceding VIP Cocktail Party, as well as an Aurora tote bag and beverage coozie.
$1000 - Includes admission for two to both the Aurora20 celebration and the preceding VIP Cocktail Party, as well as an Aurora tote bag, beverage coozie.and limited edition card set featuring imagery from Aurora’s archives.
