Chuck Ramirez

In conjunction with CAMH’s Right Here, Right Now: San Antonio exhibition, filmmakers Angela and Mark Walley will present their feature-length debut chronicling the life and work of late San Antonio artist, Chuck Ramirez. Ramirez’s work investigates everyday life, and is charged with metaphors of cultural identity, sexuality, and mortality. In the early-1990s, he saw his HIV+ diagnosis as motivation to achieve creative and professional success. By the time of his death in 2010, the charismatic Ramirez had become an integral part of the San Antonio art scene, and one of the region’s most widely exhibited artists.
