This summer, CAMH and the Aurora Picture Show co-present monthly events in which featured local artists will show and discuss recent film/video work, talk about their creative practices, and field questions from the audience. An extension of CAMH’s long-running Slide Jam series, Video Jams explore the ideas and inspirations of a range of film/video artists in Houston’s diverse and ever-changing arts community.
On Thursday, June 23rd at 6:30PM Aurora invites Be Johnny (Bree Edwards and Johnny Dekam) and Kelly Sears to the Video Jam. This will take place in the Cullen Resource Room on the lower level of the Museum. Admission is free. Seating is limited.
Be Johnny is a video design studio producing projects for entertainment, art & architecture. Our focus is the creation of captivating moving images and pioneering real-time video technology in a variety of contexts; theater, dance, live cinema, concert tours & exhibitions. Be Johnny has been engaged in Live Cinema and VJing for over a decade. Working with a range of performers, from internationally touring rock bands and to experimental theater companies.
Kelly Sears is an animator and filmmaker living in Houston, TX. She is a 2009-2011 fellow at the Core Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Her work has been shown at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Hammer Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, Anthology Film Archives, Sundance and in galleries and film festivals internationally.
