Stop-Motion Animation Workshop
Popcorn Kids Visits IKEA Houston
Saturday, August 13, 12-3PM
Location: IKEA Houston, 7810 Katy Freeway
Free Admission (Advance Registration Requested)
We are thrilled to announce that IKEA of Houston has joined Aurora to support our Popcorn Kids Workshops in the community. Their assistance will allow Aurora to partner with youth organizations to offer free filmmaking workshops. In honor of this, we will be hosting a free stop-motion animation workshop at IKEA for the public. Come have a Swedish meatball and make animations with the new catalog from 12 to 3PM.
The stop-animation workshop will teach children a form of animation in which still photographs are filmed and manipulated in ways that make them appear to move on their own. Youth will be able to create their short films using IKEA soft toys and finger puppets, pages from the new 2012 IKEA catalog and their own drawings. IKEA and Aurora Picture Show volunteers will help participants create their story and local filmmakers will help bring them to life. The final films will be screened in the IKEA Houston restaurant and shared via www.ikeahouston.com
Spaces for these workshops are limited and interested parties are advised to sign up in advance. If you would like to participate, please visit www.ikeahouston.com to RSVP.
