Aurora Picture Show will offer a night celebrating green building and community building, consummated with pancakes and maple syrup. The free outdoor screening will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 7 (screening begins at 6:30 p.m.) at the site of Houston's first LEED certified luxury condominium building The Mirabeau B, 2410 Waugh Drive at the corner of Hyde Park Blvd.
The evening will include short stacks of warm pancakes for the first 100 patrons only (guests are invited to bring their own picnics as well), followed by tall stacks of short films about sustainability.
Film titles for the outdoor screening include:
Tapping Maple Ridge, a meditation on the unexpected parallels between wind energy and maple syrup production,
Building Green in Harlem from Dwell Magazine,
Greenhouse Project and Knowing How to Nurture Ourselves from the Global Oneness Project,
Neglected Sky and Asparagus: A Stalk-umentary from Media That Matters.
There are two parking lots at Grace Lutheran Church, as well as street parking around their building, which can be used for this event. The main parking lot is right at the corner of Van Buren and Missouri, and the second parking lot is behind the church building, itself, right off of Van Buren.
Special thanks to Ttweak, Mickey Morales Catering, Grace Lutheran Church, DWELL Magazine, Media That Matters, and Global Oneness.
