Musiqa and Aurora Picture Show Collaboration

The Hobby Center's "Uniquely Houston" series presents a unique,
exciting collaboration between the nationally acclaimed contemporary
music ensemble Musiqa and Aurora Picture Show. Titled "Sonnets and
Stories," the program includes two musical works framing a screening Isaac Julien's True North curated by Aurora Picture Show. Soprano
Karol Bennett and baritone Paul Busselberg join conductor Rebecca
Miller for Pierre Jalbert's "Icefield Sonnets" for voices and
ensemble. Actor Richard Sisson narrates Karim Al-Zand's "Parizade and
the Singing Tree" for speaker and ensemble. Instrumentalists include
Richard Belcher, cello; Leone Buyse, flute; Jeanne Kierman Fischer,
piano; Maureen Nelson, violin; and Michael Webster, clarinet.
