Menil Summer Movies In The Park

Menil Summer Movies in the Park
Friday, July 31st, 8pm
Location: Outdoors in the Menil Park, 1515 Sul Ross
Free Admission

Aurora Picture Show partners with the Menil Collection to present a free outdoor series of Western screenings in the park. High Noon is an American 1952 western film starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. The film tells the story of a town marshal who is forced to face a gang of killers by himself. Somewhat controversial upon its release in 1952, High Noon, has been described as an “existential Western”. Written as an allegory of the contemporary failure of intellectuals to combat the rise of McCarthyism, as well as how people in Hollywood had remained silent while their peers were blacklisted, High Noon defies the traditional Western archetype.

Then on Friday, August 14th at 8PM join us for the second screening in the Summer Series with a collection of TV western clips.  High Ho Silver: A Ride Through TV Westerns higlights short excerpts from some of your bestloved television classic westerns.  This event will also be FREE in the Menil Park.
