Cry of the Third Eye and Children of the Lost are two acts of an eventual three-act, performed opera film by artist Lisa E. Harris. Including four generations of Harris’ family as well as former students and neighbors, the project considers gentrification, displaced youth, and metaphysical reality in Houston’s historic Third Ward District. For this unique live event, Harris–the writer, director, composer, and performer–will perform musical narration and additional elements with a sampler and a theremin alongside the films. This will be the first time that the two films are shown together and presented in this way. We’re happy to host this hometown, multidisciplinary artist between her recent Berlin show and her upcoming engagement in Los Angeles.
