Co-presented by Aurora and the Menil Collection, Geometry of Light is a program inspired by the Greek-born artist Chryssa and the exhibition Chryssa & New York. This outdoor screening, curated by Salome Kokoladze, features experimental film and video works that examine urban cultures with particular attention to light and geometry. Artists in this program, including Luis Arnías, Seoungho Cho, Chap Edmonson, Jenny Holzer, Joan Jonas, LoVid, Muriel Magenta, Charlemagne Palestine, and Jayce Salloum draw inspiration from billboards, pulsating neon lights, storefront signage, street ambience as well as the interactions between natural and industrial materials. Following the trajectories of light around us, the selected works unsettle systems of knowledge, power, and the urban imagination. The exhibition Chryssa & New York, co-curated by Michelle White and Megan Holly Witko, is on view at the Menil Collection through March 10.
