Aurora Picture Show’s annual Extremely Shorts Film Festival is an eclectic showcase of short films (3 minutes or shorter) of all kinds from around the world. This year’s guest juror is Adam Piron, Programmer for the Sundance Film Festival, Associate Director of Sundance Institute's Indigenous Program, and co-founder of the Indigenous experimental film collective COUSIN. Piron has selected 24 films from hundreds of submissions. The 24th annual Extremely Shorts festival program includes work from the United States, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Turkey, Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan. There will be two outdoor screenings of the festival program June 5 & 6 in Aurora Picture Show’s courtyard, and the program will stream online for three days the following week, June 10-12. All audiences are encouraged to vote for the festival’s Audience Award (link above), and the award-winning films will be announced on this webpage on Sunday, June 13, accompanied by encores of the winning short films.


Guest Juror: Adam Piron

Adam Piron is a Film Programmer for the Sundance Film Festival, and the Associate Director of Sundance Institute's Indigenous Program. He is currently on the Editorial Advisory Board of the BlackStar journal Seen, and on the Board of Trustees and Programming Committee of the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar. He was previously the Film Curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and a Programmer for AFI DOCS, AFI FEST, imagineNative Film and Media Arts Festival, and the LA Film Festival. Piron is also a filmmaker and co-founder of COUSIN, a collective of Indigenous experimental filmmakers.
