Elements

A tapestry in a frame: the tapestry is woven by the live music of guitarist John Edward Ross and the film of Laura Harrison; the transformation of the theater´s interior space by Nathan Wernig becomes the frame. The music incorporates modern jazz, traditional Japanese and Korean music, and contemporary European classical music. The film is composed of imagery based on the four elements: water, earth, fire and wind. Equal parts visual and aural, improvised and composed, Elements is a dynamic conversation between image and sound.
John Edward Ross is a guitarist, composer and music teacher. Performing in a variety of contexts ranging from the traditional to the avant-garde, he remains committed to a passionate pursuit of expanding musical boundaries. Laura Harrison has been making documentary films about a diverse range of subjects since 1993. Secret People, a one-hour documentary film about leprosy in America was broadcast on national PBS in 2000. Laura is currently completing a film about the renegade 70´s art collective Ant Farm.
