Digital Shorts: Faces of Austin

Ellen Spiro presents “Digital Shorts: Faces of Austin,” a selection of freewheelin', genre bendin', tale spinnin' real life stories from the Lone Star State. (Ellen's own work "Roam Sweet Home" will be screened at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston on February 19, 7:30pm.)
Director/Producer Ellen Spiro is an internationally recognized filmmaker whose documentaries have been broadcast around the world. Her awards include a Rockefeller Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts grant, Whitney Museum Independent Study Fellowship, First Prize in the USA Film Festival, a Golden Gate Award, Prized Pieces Award from the National Black Programming Consortium, Paul Clere Humanitarian Award of Excellence and others.
Spiro was a founding member of member of DIVA TV (Damned Interfering Video Activist Television) in New York City and her film works include "Diana's Hair Ego", 1988, "Greetings From Out Here", 1993, and "Roam Sweet Home", 1997. Spiro's work has been screened at the Whitney Museum Biennial, Museum of Modern Art, USA Film Fest, Sundance Film Festival, and others. She currently teaches at University of Texas in Austin.
