It's been nearly 100 years since Marcel Duchamp entered his signed urinal (Fountain, 1917) into the members’ exhibition of the Society of Independent Artists, New York, and art has just gotten more riotous. This special program, presented by visiting curator and Aurora Picture Show founder Andrea Grover, will start with a laughter yoga exercise led by dancer/choreographer Jane Weiner and end with a face-making contest. In between. we'll see sidesplitting screen cameos by Laurie Anderson, Salvador Dali, Casey Jane Ellison, Andy Kaufman, Kalup Linzy, Dale Seever, Hennessy Youngman, and others. But seriously folks, this film program will elucidate the historical power of satire, parody, caricature and nonsense in art, and the underlying psychology of humor.
