Curator will be in attendance! Aurora Picture Show and Mark Allen are proud to present “California Special,” the Houston debut of fifteen films by emerging Los Angeles filmmakers. This series of shorts is an informal survey of the latest directions in California film and video. Subject matter includes (but is not limited to) German Smurfs, men in towel skirts, amateur ice skaters, arsonists, voluntary cranial distortions, giant vegetables, a Buddhist debate team, telepathic communication, and of course, nudity.

Mark Allen is an artist and independent curator currently living in Los Angeles. He enjoys a long running and cheerful relationship with Houston which included being the ex-director of two of Houston’s most over-hyped micro galleries, LAX and Revolution Summer.
