The next generation of Houston filmmakers will walk the red carpet and strike a pose at the 7th annual World Premiere of Boot Camp short films. Hosted in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, this screening will showcase films made by youth and teens enrolled in Aurora Picture Show Boot Camps. The films will be screened on Saturday, August 15th at 11AM in the Brown Auditorium of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (1001 Bissonnet).
Since 2008, Aurora has hosted this popular filmmaking summer camp where students learn about, create, and discuss film and video at Aurora Picture Show. As part of our Media Education initiatives, Aurora Boot Camps teach hands-on narrative and experimental techniques using digital video under the guidance of local filmmakers and artists. Camps are held at the Aurora Picture Show Media Arts Center at 2442 Bartlett where campers will develop, produce and edit their own short films.
Each year the final films from all the camps are screened at a red carpet premiere where "paparazzi" snap photos of the young superstars with their friends and family.
Special thanks to Volunteer Houston and ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) for supporting the Summer Filmmaking Apprenticeship program to make programs like this possible.
