Lewis Klahr’s “Calendar of the Siamese” is the fictional story of Roger Simmons, a musician in the throes of a midlife crisis who decides to sell a slice of his liver on the biological black market. Believing that the money from this organ transaction will allow him more time to compose, Simmons instead submerges into a confused and twisted reality.
“The Fetishist” by Jim Trainnon the criminal career of William Heirens, a seventen’s underwear that grew into an escalating series of violations. Using magic marker on typing paper and incorporating photo collage, Trainor interprets Heiren’s story through a series of unnerving vignettes, dreams and metaphoric fantasies.
Lewis Klahr has been making films since 1977. He is recognized for his unique collage and cutout animations which have been extensively screened, including in 3 one-person shows at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, and the 1991 and 1995 Whitney Biennials. Klahr has also received a special citation from The National Society of Film Critics, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
Jim Trainor was born in 1961 and spent most of his childhood in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC. He has lived in New York since 1979 wher 1979 where he attended Columbia University. He currently works at a commercial film archive and teaches animation at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Trainor has been making animated films since the age of 13.
