ABINADI MEZA: SEEING IS DREAMING
Artist Abinadi Meza in attendance
Co-presented by Aurora Picture Show and Basket Books & Art
Location: Basket Books & Art, 115 Hyde Park Blvd, Houston, TX 77006
Free Admission
Organized and hosted by Aurora Picture Show and Basket Books & Art, this special screening features films by Texas-based Latinx-Indigenous artist Abinadi Meza, whose practice includes experimental film and video, sound installation, and live performance. Meza’s films are made with found and original footage, hand-painted film, and original soundtracks. Seen together, his films comprise a kind of drifting memory station, creating layered spaces for the audience to dream in. Introduced by Meza, Seeing is Dreaming premieres his new film Tlaloc, a hand-painted direct animation film referencing the god of rain, lightning, waters, and growth in the Aztec pantheon. The program also includes earlier works such as Surrounded by Colors We Could No Longer See and Time Crystals. Seating is limited, and is first come, first served.
Aurora Picture Show is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
