CREATE / Make A Cocktail

Our friends at Double Trouble Caffeine & Cocktails and Fords Gin have concocted a signature cocktail for your home viewing of the Extremely Shorts Film Festival 2020 online program, on view through Friday, May 22! The “Extremely Fords” is sure to enhance your viewing and post-show ponderings!

Ingredients for 4 servings:
8oz Ford's gin
2 bags of Green Tea (or Chamomile or Black or Jasmine Tea)
3oz Fresh lemon juice (or lime)
3oz juice strained from 20oz Canned Pineapple chunks in 100% juice
3oz salty honey syrup

Infuse the Fords Gin
Sprinkle loose contents of 2 tea bags into 8oz Fords Gin. Stir and allow to infuse for 2 hours. Strain loose tea leaves from the gin with a coffee filter/double strainer. Set aside.

Prepare Salty Honey
Combine 1/2 cup or H2O with 1/2 cup of honey and a hefty 1/8 tsp Kosher salt  in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir just until honey and water are combined and salt has dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool.

Juice lemons and strain seeds and pulp.

Strain pineapple juice from canned pineapple chunks. Press fruit gently to extract as much juice as possible.

Optional garnish
Pour 1oz Angostura bitters into small saucepan. Add pineapple chunks and bring to medium heat, stirring often to coat the pineapple chunks, until the bottom of the pan is dry and the pineapple has absorbed the bitters. 3-5 mins. Your house will smell very good! Allow to cool.

Recipe (makes 1 cocktail):
2oz tea-infused Ford's Gin
3/4oz pineapple juice (strained from canned pineapple)
3/4oz lemon juice
3/4oz salty honey syrup
Optional garnish: canned pineapple chunks 'sauteed' in Angostura Bitters
Combine all ingredients, shake well, then strain over ice in small tumbler. Skewer Ango-Pineapple and serve.
