AURORA PICTURE SHOW ON THE ROAD
Aurora hits the road to bring our uniquely Aurora-esque programming to a city near you. If you are interested in hosting a screening of non-commercial, artist-made film and video curated by Aurora Picture Show, please contact our Curator, Mary Magsamen. We are also currently touring our Extremely Shorts Film Festival on local television public access stations. It is available for screening at art house cinemas, museums, universities, and other microcinemas.

Aurora on Tour: Reconstructed
With Aurora Curator Mary Magsamen in attendance
Wednesday, September 1st
Location: Artpace San Antonio
Cut up, remix, mash up. This is not a cooking show; it is video art, reconstructed. With the ease and accessibility of digital media and tools, contemporary video artists have endless content and materials at their disposal. Following a long history of artist appropriating found materials, this selection of short films are collages from popular culture that reinterpret and reconstruct as a means of social, political and personal commentary. They reconstruct our ideas of what we know from well known films such as the Sound of Music as well as from old family films, television commercials and news programs transforming them into humorous, thoughtful and multi-layered films.
