About Elaine Bradford
Creator of the 2011 Aurora Award

Each year, Aurora selects an artist to create an Aurora Award that is presented to the honoree.  This year Aurora has selected Houston artist, Elaine Bradford.

Bradford lives and works in Houston, TX. She holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts (2003) and a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin (2000). Select solo shows have been at ArtLeague Houston, Houston, TX; Hunt Gallery, Webster University, St. Louis, MO; and Women & Their Work, Austin, TX.

She is a founding member and current President of BOX 13 ArtSpace, an innovative artist run studio and gallery space in Houston and is on the Artist Board of DiverseWorks, Houston and on the Programming Committee of Lawndale Art Center, Houston. Bradford was the recipient of a 2008 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance. Most recently, she completed a residency at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in 2010, and a Civic Art Commission for the City of Houston, permanently installed at Vinson Neighborhood Library in Spring of 2011.
