We consider all genres, lengths, styles and formats, including 16mm, 35mm, super-8mm, video and HD video.

The AAFF provides at least $18,000 in cash awards to more than 20 filmmakers, serves as a qualifying festival for Academy Award nomimation in the short film category and offers touring opportunities for select filmmakers.

]]> Wed, 11 Aug 2010 12:00:00 CST This exhibition was originally conceptualized by Taylor as a selection of works viewable through the web, although recent opportunities to collaborate with local film and video organizations has expanded the exhibition scope. Taylor plans to send out the open call by August 4th. Early submission will be accepted prior to the deadline of August 31st. With the exception of documentary films, the submission guidelines are not theme specific. Taylor plans to curate the exhibition based on the relationships he finds between the works selected.

Taylor is a local Houston-based artist and curator whose work over the past few years has been featured at the Museum of Fine Arts, Lawndale Arts Center, Project Row Houses, Rice Media Center and the Go Down Arts Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. He has curated the exhibitions Future Present Series and The Love Movement at the Community Artists Collective, which incorporated visual art, live dance and video.

This description is being sent to organizations and individuals who have shared an interest in participating in the project and requested additional info such as Southwest Alternate Media Project, Houston Film Commission, Our Film Festival, Objectif/SPAMMO, and Aurora Picture Show.

***The exhibition submission guidelines exclude documentary films other than performance-based films.

Submissions may be dance documentary, video dance, or experimental dance technology. Films must be 15 minutes or shorter in length. Video submissions should be sent as a DVD along with at least one still image of the work on a CD. Please include your full name, affiliation, mailing address, e-mail address, phone number, title of film, running time, year of production, a brief description of the film, and list of credits as part of your submission. By submitting to the festival you acknowledge that you hold all necessary rights for the film submitted. Materials will not be returned.
