Aurora’s long-running Extremely Shorts Film Festival features adventurous short films (3 minutes or shorter) of all kinds and from around the world. The deadline for submissions is coming up on March 8. The 2024 festival program will screen May 31- June 1, will have limited online presentation the following week, and cash awards are given for Juror and Audience Choice films!

KITÂB AL-ISFÂR: BOOK OF THE JOURNEY
Saturday, Mar. 23 (7pm) Aurora Picture Show and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston co-present the US premiere of Baba Hillman’s lyrical essay film, followed by an in-person conversation and Q&A with the filmmaker. This kaleidoscopic travelog captures Hillman’s seven-year journey through Spain, Norway, and Scotland to explore a near-death and mystical experience. More details…


BYOB 2024 - SIGN-UP TO PARTICIPATE
Aurora Picture Show and The Menil Collection co-present this lively, annual evening of outdoor, community-sourced projections covering the museum’s façade. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 11 (The rain date is the following Saturday, May 18). If you are interested in contributing your own imagery to the experience, you must register in advance for a space and time slot, Registration is now open, and is first come first served.
