Aurora Picture Show & Public Poetry copresent
LOCATION: HOUSTON Poetry+Film Collaborations
REELpoetry Festival 2022

Aurora and Public Poetry join together to present an exciting, new project fusing words and moving image. Location: Houston will pair poets and filmmakers to produce original "filmpoems" relating to people, places, and experiences specific to Houston, Texas. Poets and film/video artists who reside in the greater Houston area may submit work to be considered for this project (Deadline: Nov. 24, see guidelines). Five poets and five filmmakers will be selected to participate, and will then be paired to collaboratively create an original "filmpoem" up to 5 minutes in length. Each selected artist will receive a fee of $250, the films will be produced Jan. 3 – Feb. 11, 2022, and the films will premiere at Aurora Picture Show February 25th as part of the annual REELpoetry film festival. 
Submission deadline: November 24, 2021
Notification by December 15, 2021
Production start date: January 3, 2022
Films completed: February 11, 2022
Premiere screening: February 25, 2022


Submit two examples of past, original poetry (can be up to 30 lines). Selections will be blind, so your name should not appear on the submission. Must currently reside in the greater Houston area. 

Film/video artists: 
Submit a document (Word or PDF) including Vimeo or YouTube links to two examples of your past film/video work (up to 3 minutes of each piece will be viewed) as well as including the titles, running times, year, and descriptions for each of the descriptions. Must currently reside in the greater Houston area.
