Copenhagen Cycles by Eric Dyer

ERIC DYER: REAL-TIME ZOETROPE
Saturday, November 5 (7-10PM)
Members-only reception at 6PM
Artist talk & screening at 8PM
Free Admission

Baltimore-based artist Eric Dyer delighted festival audiences in 2006 with Copenhagen Cycles, a short film that replaced zoetrope slits with the camera shutter to set in motion over two dozen intricately collaged paper sculptures. Dyer has continued to reinvent the zoetrope for his unique film and installation projects, fervently exploring the expressive possibilities of this largely forgotten, pre-cinema optical toy. Commissioned by Aurora, his latest experiment is Octopi–a 17-foot diameter static installation that pops to animated life on the screen when visitors turn a tiny crank. Be sure to be here at 8pm when Dyer will give an artist talk and screen additional works.

After this event, the installation will be on view by appointment Sunday through Thursday. Contact Us
